Starobrno Medium – a classic unpasteurized pale lager, brewed from selected Saaz and Moravian two-row barley malt. The beer features a rich, stable foam, a balanced malty flavor with a gentle bitterness, and a pleasant fullness, making every sip both satisfying and refreshing.
The Starobrno Brewery is the oldest brewery in Moravia, with a history dating back to 1325, when it was established as a Cistercian monastery by Elizabeth Richeza of Poland in the Stare Brno district. Despite fires in the 15th century, the brewery was always restored to its original form. In 1782, the monastery was closed by order of Emperor Joseph II, and its property was transferred to the St. Thomas Abbey.
In the second half of the 19th century, new modern production facilities were built, and by the end of the century, the brewery merged with another company and moved to a new plant in Stare Brno. By the end of the 19th century, the consolidated brewery's annual production reached 236,490 hectoliters.
Throughout the 20th century, the brewery underwent multiple modernizations, and in 1992, it received its first award at the PIVEX exhibition. In 2009, Starobrno produced over one million hectoliters of beer and merged with the Royal Brewery of Krušovice, becoming part of the Dutch brewing corporation Heineken.
